how to adjust suspension on a 1996 jeep cherokee country

Question

we put a new suspension system on the jeep cherokee but the tires do not aline up with the steering wheel  when the steering wheel is straight across, they are eater pointed out or in when we adjust the ball joints on the ends of the suspension system
We counted the threads on the old ball joints and when we put the new ball joints on we counted the same amount of threads on them and found out that the front wheels are out of alinement
