Where is the Fuel Pump, and how to remove it, on a 1989 Audi 100

Question

Where is the Fuel Pump and how to remove it. I assumed it was in the tank. I remove the access plate, removed the hoses and electrical, removed the locking ring. When I lif up on it it is being held down. I am not sure what to do.
