Do I need to replace my catalytic converter on my 2001 Acura EL

My 70 year old mother was told she needs to replace the catalytic converter on her 2001 Acura EL. She was quoted over 3000 dollars. Sounds a little high for me.. I told her to go get a new engine!

Catalytic converters are quite spendy as they are made with platinum but 3k is way too high reseach online which type she needs and how many and get them online. Then bring them to any muffler shop and have them switched out. Should be under 1k easy.
