1989 Mercedes 300se automatic. It just started sticking in second not completing the shift to 3rd.

the shift into 3rd gear. it doesnt do it all the time but thought it was going to strand last night. ive heard check vacuum line, vacuum modulator and such. i believe its a minor fix but wondering if its a common problem. it just started this last night.
